Northside of Pittsburgh: Rich History, Affordable Real Estate

Post by

Pittsburgh has been rated the most livable city in America on numerous occasions and has accommodated newcomers for centuries. The Northside history is concentrated and rich. This part of Pittsburgh features many different districts which are generally grouped together such as the Mexican War Streets and Allegheny West, Birgo Realty's own neighborhood.

Pittsburgh and the Modern American Dream

Becoming a resident in this area is living in one of the most history-rich Pittsburgh neighborhoods. In a sense, living on the Northside symbolizes the well-documented “American Dream” which this nation’s founding fathers desperately tried to achieve in earlier times.

Within these neighboring areas, people are given the opportunity to live inside one of the many large row houses along North Avenue. These houses are beautifully crafted, large Victorian style homes which offer great location relative to many parts of the Pittsburgh area. Mainly in Central Northside, residents have the option to walk to one of the many businesses for a bite to eat or take a short walk to enjoy a Steelers game.

The Original Popularity

Due to the increasing population in Pittsburgh, there was a great deal of speculation about the area’s potential. General William Robinson was particularly interested. He became one of the burgh’s original leaders during the 1840s. The North Shore became like his personal nation. Within this miniature America, people could become something new of themselves in a new area. He built up this area much like the Revolutionaries did in the 1700s and offered people looking to relocate a place to start fresh in a new neighborhood where they would have great proximity to a job.

Homes From Then to Now

New homes were built and so was an area which Pittsburgh can now claim as its own. The Northside represents much more than a “historic district,” it serves as a reminder of people in the early years of our country trying to achieve their dreams both in the distant past, slightly more recent past, and also today, as it is being built back up as a place that will soon become synonymous with “success”, much like the United States of America was seen during the waves of immigration.

Present day renting affordability

Pittsburgh has continued to be a place of opportunity — specifically, there are many affordable real estate options for current residents and newcomers alike. Whether someone is looking for a home to rent, buy, or build, opportunities abound.
